Mt. Crested Butte Family Session | Clifford

When I think of some of my very favorite family sessions, this one is right up there. It was a bit more of a drive than most, but completely worth it. This Mt. Crested Butte family session was nothing short of magical.

Olivia reached out a few months before their trip about scheduling family photos while they were visiting and staying with her in-laws in Mt. Crested Butte. Her husband grew up coming to this area, so it holds a lot of meaningful memories for their family.

Meeting new people from all walks of life is still one of my favorite parts of this job. I loved getting to know them. Her husband is a private pilot, and their sweet boy, Harrison, was so much fun to photograph. We even got lucky and spotted a few deer running through the mountains, and Harrison’s excitement was the best part.

The scenery for this session was unreal. Mountains surrounded us in every direction, and everything felt peaceful, quiet, and just… still. I actually told my husband on the drive home that we need to come back early next fall for our own family photos.

This session was extra fun because I brought my crew along for the day. We made a whole outing of it—grabbing lunch and mini doughnuts downtown (so good), then wandering through a few of our favorite bookstores. The kids loved popping into toy shops and just exploring. It turned into one of those days you don’t rush, and those are always the best ones.

Another thing I loved about this Mt. Crested Butte family session was how effortlessly everything came together—including their outfits. Olivia’s dress was beautiful, and the soft blues and khaki tones the boys wore paired with it perfectly without feeling overly styled.

If you’ve been thinking about doing family photos, consider this your sign. Getting into the habit of documenting your family each year is something I really believe in. Life changes quickly, and these photos become more meaningful with time.
