This Red Earth Venue Moab wedding was the perfect mix of desert views, relaxed moments, and an unforgettable day.

Some weddings are beautiful.
Some weddings are fun.
And then there are weddings like JB and Alexie’s at Red Earth Venue in Moab, Utah that feel like an absolute adventure from start to finish.
This one is going to be hard to forget.

I had the chance to photograph this wedding alongside my friend Alisha from Oakstream Photo, which already guaranteed it was going to be a good day. The venue alone is incredible. Red Earth sits surrounded by Moab’s towering red rock cliffs and desert landscape. As someone who spends most of my time photographing in the mountains of Colorado, the scenery felt completely different in the best possible way.
The whole weekend actually worked out perfectly. My family and I had just wrapped up a 10-day road trip to California in our camper, and Moab happened to be right along the way home. Not a bad stop to photograph a wedding.
When I arrived, Alexie was getting ready and looking absolutely stunning. Her dress was beautiful and she carried that calm, excited energy that every bride hopes for. Meanwhile, I headed over to where the guys were getting ready, and the vibe there was… exactly what you’d expect.

Morgan Wallen blasting.
Drinks in hand.
Lots of laughter.
The groomsmen were immediately a blast to hang out with. At one point we realized JB’s cuff on his shirt didn’t actually have a button hole for the cufflinks. No problem. Someone grabbed a set of keys and we literally made one.

Problem solved.

We also spent a good chunk of time attempting to hand-tie bow ties, which somehow turned into a group effort. The guys were so fun and helpful all day, which honestly makes a huge difference when photographing a wedding.

Outside, the sky had been slowly building drama all afternoon. Dark clouds rolled in and out, and we all had that feeling it was only a matter of time before the sky would break.

JB and Alexie’s ceremony was beautiful, with those dramatic Moab cliffs surrounding them. Right after the ceremony everyone moved inside the stunning glass-framed reception space at Red Earth Venue.

And then the storm hit.
Not a little rain.
I mean pouring.
The thunder started cracking across the desert so loudly it shook the building. Power went out at least four or five times throughout the night. Every time a massive thunder crash rolled across the sky the guests would cheer like they were at a concert.

At one point the taco truck had to temporarily close and take shelter because the rain was coming down so hard. It was honestly one of the wildest wedding storms I’ve ever seen.
But here’s the best part.

The moment the DJ got the music back on after each power outage, the dance floor filled right back up. Guests started running out into the rain, dancing and laughing while the storm poured down around them.
It was chaotic in the most unforgettable way.
Then, just as suddenly as it started, the rain cleared.

The sky opened up, the light softened, and an incredible rainbow appeared over the desert cliffs. We grabbed JB and Alexie and headed out into the landscape for some portraits, and the photos we captured in those moments were unreal.
Moab delivered.

Epic views, wild weather, and one very happy couple.

This Red Earth Venue Moab wedding ended up being one of the most memorable days I’ve photographed. Huge thanks to Love Letter Events and Rentals out of Grand Junction for helping pull together such an incredible celebration.
And of course a big shoutout to my girl Alisha from Oakstream Photo for the opportunity to photograph alongside her. Days like this are the best kind.
Hands down, Red Earth Venue is one of my favorite places I’ve ever photographed. If you’re planning a wedding in Moab and want a truly breathtaking backdrop, this place is it.

Seriously.
Someone get married here and call me so I can photograph this incredible venue again.
