If you are planning a wedding then this Top 3 Florists- Montrose Colorado blog is for you. Before we dig into my favorite florists here in Montrose I have a quick PSA. I’m going to step up on my box for just a quick minute and explain why, as a photographer, real flowers are the way to go.
Also, don’t came at me for this, k? If you want to do a DIY silk flower kit, or give the new wooden forever flowers a go, then you do you boo boo. This suggestion is from a photographic point of view. What photographs best and why. (phew, okay, here we go).
Real flowers add so much depth and beauty to your day. There is something about the aroma and the presence of flowers. In a few recent studies, it was shown that flowers have a natural effect on elevating people’s moods. Apparently, they have an immediate impact on one’s happiness. And, I would say that on your wedding day, that can not only help you, but your wedding party, family, guests, etc . . . anything to bring a little extra joy and combat some wedding stress is a good thing.
Besides flowers elevating your mood, they are photography beautifully. Plastic flowers look like . . . plastic flowers. The green stems on plastic flowers can be especially hard to photograph. The sheen of them, and the plastic connectors that stick out are easily visible. Usually, this is not ideal.
Florals authentically create a higher-end feeling to your wedding. Also, don’t hear me wrong, your wedding doesn’t have to look like it cost a million dollars! But, real flowers, brings that classy, timeless feel that many brides are looking for.
Also, if cost is what is creating the dilemma for you, I have a few tips that can help! Chances are, you spent a good amount of money on the dress of your dreams. Love that. Your bouquet will be in a good number of your wedding photos. So, my advice here is to invest in your dream bouquet. Ask your florist for a bouquet with mainly neutrals and small pops of color that go with the color scheme of your wedding. Baby’s breath can act as a great inexpensive filler, and is gorgeous in images. A lot of time if you ask for flowers that are ‘in-season’ you will be spending less than if they have to import them from out of state.
If you’re able to get smaller bouquets for your bridesmaids and matching boutonnières, awesome! Follow the same rules of thumb here. Local, simple, neutral.
Obviously, I’m a huge fan of natural flowers in as many places as possible for your wedding day, because the results look absolutely stunning and just add to the overall feel of the day. But, if you have to choose here are my suggestions in order on where to spend money on those florals:
Plus, here’s an extra money saving tip: See if you can take the main ceremony floral piece and use it on your bride/groom reception table. Same with your ceremony aisle floral decor. See if you can use those as your receptions pieces afterwards.
Real florals truly do elevate your wedding and create such a gorgeous inviting environment. Here are my top 3 favorite florists in Montrose Colorado.
Pro Tip: Ask your florist to leave a couple of the ‘extra’ pieces that didn’t fit or were left over from your order, in a little baggie and deliver it with the rest of the flowers. Those extra little pieces are perfect for your flat lay details.
