The Gift of giving back: local nonprofits to support this Christmas Season. The holiday season is a wonderful time to reflect on giving back, and supporting our local nonprofits is a great way to make a difference. There’s something truly special about contributing to the very community that surrounds you. I’ve had the privilege of being a part of Foster Connections, a nonprofit right here in Western Colorado. They are doing incredible work for at-risk youth. They started just this past year, but their impact is already being felt in the lives of children in our community. Through support, resources, and connections, Foster Connections is helping these kids thrive amidst the many challenges they face.

If you are looking for some fantastic local nonprofits to support, here’s a great list to get started. Links included!

  1. Foster Connections – A new nonprofit with a powerful mission: to help at-risk youth in our community thrive. They provide resources and support to kids who are facing difficult circumstances, ensuring they have the tools and connections needed to succeed.
  2. Ms. Clause for a Cause – A heartwarming nonprofit that spreads joy during the holidays by providing gifts and support to families who may be going through tough times. They ensure no child goes without a little magic during the Christmas season. This is the spirit of Christmas, right here. My kids and I got to volunteer for this event this season and it was amazing to see how much our community is pouring into these children! The donations were so generous!
  3. Shepard’s Hand – Focused on providing resources to those in need, Shepard’s Hand is making sure that people in our community have access to food, clothing, and other essential items. Their work extends beyond the holiday season, but this time of year, their efforts become even more vital.
  4. Peer Kindness – An organization dedicated to promoting kindness and support among youth. Peer Kindness works in schools and local programs to foster positive, inclusive environments for kids. They’re building a brighter future, one kind act at a time. This non-profit has already changed so many lives, and I love seeing their huge impact on our community.
  5. Adaptive Heroes (based in Grand Junction) – This nonprofit focuses on empowering individuals with disabilities by offering adaptive sports and recreational activities. It’s amazing to see the impact they’ve had, helping people build confidence and skills through activities they may have never thought possible.

These organizations—and so many like them—rely heavily on local support to continue their work. By giving back to local nonprofits, you’re not just making a donation; you’re contributing to the well-being and strength of our community. Supporting them ensures that these invaluable resources remain available for those who need them the most.

This holiday season, I encourage everyone to consider how you might be able to give back. Whether it’s your time, money, or simply spreading the word about the incredible work these nonprofits do, your support matters more than you know. The gift of giving is one that ripples out and impacts lives in the best possible way. Thanks for checking out my The Gift of giving back: local nonprofits to support this Christmas Season blog.

There are, of course, a variety, of other non-profits locally to choose from. Ranging from non-profit preschools, to animal shelters, etc . . . this is just a spring board!

So many thanks to all those who help our local community with their time, finances, and resources. Our community is better because of people like you!
