A Sweet Family Session at Riverbottom Park
This session with Lizzie and her crew was such a treat, especially since their son, Sawyer, and my own son are best friends! These two are a blast, whether they’re playing chess, challenging each other in baseball, or strategizing in epic rounds of Risk. It was so much fun to capture Sawyer and his two younger sisters out at Riverbottom Park here in Montrose. With the fall colors at their peak, the backdrop couldn’t have been better, and the kids looked incredible against the golden leaves. Honestly, these kids don’t take a bad photo!
We started by exploring around the river, where the kids played and we managed to sneak in some candid moments. The energy and laughter from tag brought out so much joy, and they loved telling me all about how their school year has been going. Seeing kids having fun and being themselves is one of the best parts of these sessions – it brings out those real smiles, which I always love to capture.
The highlight, though, was when we wrapped up with some leaf-throwing fun. Watching the kids dive into the piles of leaves, laughing and tossing them in the air, made for some of the most carefree moments. It’s these small, joy-filled moments that bring so much personality into family photos, and this session was packed with them.
I even got to see the kids twice in a row this week! Lizzie scheduled a session the following day to honor her dad, who’s retiring as a doctor. I can’t wait to share more from that session soon. These back-to-back shoots made me feel like part of the family. I’m so grateful to have been invited to capture these memories for them.
