Some proposals are carefully planned for months.
Others come together around the idea of a perfect weekend getaway.
Andrew reached out to me with a plan to propose to his girlfriend, Renee while they were visiting Palisade, Colorado for a weekend trip. If you’ve ever been to Palisade, you know it’s hard to find a more beautiful place for something like that.
Vineyards stretch across the valley, the Colorado River winds through the landscape, and Mt. Garfield rises up dramatically in the distance.
For the location, we chose one of my favorite spots in the area — Clark & Co Distilling.
This place is such a hidden gem. The vineyard views, the open valley, and the relaxed atmosphere make it the perfect setting for a romantic moment like this.
Andrew pulled it off perfectly.
At just the right moment, he got down on one knee among the vines and asked Renee to marry him. Of course, she said yes, and the excitement that followed was the best part.

After the proposal, we spent the rest of the evening celebrating and turning the moment into an engagement session around the property.

Clark & Co offers so many beautiful little corners for photos. We wandered through the vineyard rows, found pockets of soft light between the vines, and eventually made our way up to the upper patio overlooking the valley.

From up there you can see a huge stretch of the Palisade landscape, with Mt. Garfield rising in the background and the river winding through the valley. It’s one of those views that reminds you how special Western Colorado really is.

The venue even offers a small section for intimate weddings, and honestly it’s hard to imagine a better backdrop for something like that.
I’ve also been to Clark & Co just to relax with friends — enjoying a drink and some charcuterie while soaking in the view. It’s one of those places where you instantly slow down and appreciate the moment.
Andrew and Renee were an absolute dream to photograph. Andrew treats Renee like an absolute queen, and you can tell immediately how much they adore each other.
That kind of energy makes my job easy.

They were also completely up for anything I asked them to try, which always leads to the most fun photos. At one point we had piggyback rides happening in the vineyard rows, and yes… there may have been a little rolling around in the grass involved too.

The best engagement sessions happen when couples just relax, trust the process, and enjoy the moment together.
Sessions like this are exactly why I love photographing proposals in places like Palisade.
Andrew and Renee did exactly that.

Their gallery ended up being one of my favorite engagement galleries to date. Their outfits were absolutely perfect, the light was beautiful, and the vineyard setting made everything feel effortless.
If you’re looking for engagement photo inspiration, this session definitely delivers.

I’m so grateful Andrew trusted me to capture such an important moment in their story.
