The Visser Family | Ridgway Family Photos in the San Juan Mountains
The Montrose Colorado Family Session with the Visser family was extra special!
Their little boy Ollie spends a couple days a week hanging out with my oldest daughter, who babysits for them. It was actually her first steady babysitting job, and they have been so wonderful to her. They adore her… which I completely understand, because she really is pretty amazing.
So when Erin reached out about updating their family photos in Montrose, I was all in.
Getting to photograph families you already know and care about adds such a meaningful layer to the whole experience.
And let me just say — Ollie is going to be a heartbreaker someday. He’s one of the sweetest little guys and has the best personality.
Watching the three of them interact together during the session was honestly my favorite part of the evening. You can tell immediately how much they love being parents and how much joy Ollie brings into their lives.
Those are the kinds of moments that make family sessions so special.
It’s not just about standing still and smiling at the camera. It’s about capturing the little interactions in between — the laughter, the hugs, the way parents look at their kids when they think no one is watching.
That’s the real magic.
Family photos matter so much because these moments don’t repeat themselves. Kids grow quickly. Personalities change. Life moves forward whether we realize it or not.
Photographs give us a way to hold onto a season of life that would otherwise slip by.
Years from now, Ollie won’t remember exactly what this day looked like. But his parents will be able to show him these photos and remind him how loved he was during this stage of life.
And that’s the part I love most about what I do.
