Colorado maternity photos | Black Canyon National Park

This Black Canyon Maternity Session will forever be an epic favorite. There’s something so special about capturing people you love during a big life chapter—and this maternity session with my sweet friends Laressia and Sam at Black Canyon National Park was such a beautiful one.

We had an overcast sky and a little chill in the air, but these two embraced it like champs. Laressia looked absolutely stunning in her deep purple dress—the color popped so perfectly against the moody landscape. The love between these two was obvious in every moment. Sam was so sweet with her the entire time, making sure she was warm, cared for, and feeling her best. You could feel the excitement and calm between them, and I know they’re going to be incredible parents.

Two Epic Overlooks, One Beautiful Belly

We explored two different lookouts within the park and ended up with such a fun mix of photos. Some were wide and dramatic, showing off those bold canyon lines and early mountain snow. Others were closer, softer—focused on the sweet details of this season and that growing belly. It was the perfect combo of emotional and epic.

Black Canyon always delivers, but especially on days like this. The slight dusting of snow on the mountains added the most beautiful texture to the background. I’m so glad we didn’t wait any longer—the timing ended up being just right.

Why I Love Maternity Sessions So Much

I’ll be honest—I didn’t do maternity photos with my first two pregnancies, and I so wish I had. This season might feel long when you’re in it, but it’s truly fleeting. Your body is doing something incredible, and you deserve to remember it—not just what it looked like, but how it felt.
