This Dallas Divide Engagement Session was so beautiful. Jordan and Maddison make such a sweet couple and chose the perfect backdrop for their engagement session!
Jordan and Maddison are both local police officers and have been together for quite some time. They both love the outdoors, horses, and serving their community. They plan to get married in June of this year and I am so excited to capture it! Stay tuned for that blog coming soon!
I wanted to chat a little bit about this location. Dallas Divide is an incredible beautiful stretch that runs along Ridgway/Placerville to Telluride. If you aren’t familiar with this pass, it takes its name from Dallas Creek which drains the basin on the north side of Mt. Sneffels into the Uncompahgre River. It is beautiful any time of year, but it tends to be most popular around the fall. Tourists and locals alike will drive along the pass to see the amazing fall colors popping along the gorgeous mountain. For the first few miles of the stretch there is private land on both sides of the pass. One of them being Ralph Lauren’s gorgeous and HUGE estate! If you are passing by and pull off to take in the views, make sure to stay on the outside of the fence so as not to trespass on any private property.
We had such a blast on this engagement session. Plenty of laughs, a bit of a run in with some holes on the ground, temperatures dropping from warm to frigid, and so many magical images. They were both so easy-going and were happy to go along with all of my crazy ideas! We were having some moody weather the past few days/weeks prior to this session so we were extra thankful to have a clear and wind-free evening for their Dallas Divide Engagement Session.
This is a question I get pretty often! I’m going to link a blog under the images from this session with exact tips. For now, remember this: Neutrals win! I’m talking beige, off-whites, soft greens, minty teals, blues, soft pinks, grey’s, etc . . . those are your winners for your session. Stray from any loud patterns or small prints that could cause something called ‘moire’ where those prints create an effect that makes it look blurry and swirly. One casual and one dressy is perfect. Dress for the weather, dress comfortably, dress like you would going out for a fancy dinner and one for a night out. Need more help? Just message me before your session and I’m happy to help!
