This Gunnison Colorado Family Session, was so much fun! One of the aspects I love most about my career is how it brings people back together. Kimberly, reached out to me in September acquiring about a family session, and I was so excited to make it happen.

Heres the fun part of this session, the Dad in these photos, Pete, was my husbands best friend growing up. As in, they were trouble-making, bike-riding, snack-eating little boys. Pete was one of my husband’s groomsmen, and Ryan was one of his years later. And now, I get to to take some of their first family pictures as their sweet family grows. I see so much beauty in that.

My husband was born and raised in Gunnison, Colorado and stayed there until he enlisted in the Army right out of High School. So, needless to say- he is full knowledge about this little ski town that sits southeast of where we live now. Minus, the current (and seemingly never ending) construction on the main highway that it takes to get to Gunnison, its a pretty quaint little town. Crested Butte is just a short 30 min drive up the road. So a lot of Gunnison’s economy is based off of tourist attractions. It is home to Western State College and honestly, if you blinked when driving through, you might miss it!

Pete, Kimberly, and Kennedy are so incredibly sweet together! We got lucky and found a park with so much Gold rush color that it looked like a post card. My in-laws still live there, so we stayed the night and enjoyed a hike to the river the following morning.

Being able to capture these moments for families is such an honor. All these little moments with our children, the funny faces they make, the stuffed animal they don’t want to let go of, every single stage, it deserves to be captured before the next one sneaks up on us.

Make sure to capture all of these moments parents, and find joy in each one. I promise it’s there.
