My first Telluride Family Session! So much fun! I’ve shot in Telluride before but never for a family! My last one in Telluride was this gorgeous Wedding! Jen reached out to me months prior to her session to inquire about booking an epic fall spot for her family in September. And oh man, did we find one!
Rather than go up by myself, my husband recommended that we all go up as a family earlier and enjoy the day together. It worked out perfectly! The weather was kind of hit or miss that day. We had rain, angry clouds, wind, sunshine, warm temps, cold temps, and blue skies. So kind of all seasons in one day. Welcome to Western Colorado.
My family and I went up and our kids LOVED riding the gondolas up and down. That is ultimately where we found the perfect spot. We rode the gondola up to the San Sophia area and it was stunning. I met Jen and her sweet family up there. We connected immediately! As we were chatting while walking to our location we found out we were both Jersey girls. Small world! We enjoyed bonding over that for most of the session. She told me their dream was to live in Telluride or close to it. And I hope that dream comes true for them some day!
Their little girl, Nora, was just the sweetest little thing. She LOVED the leaves and couldn’t take her eyes off of them. Her parents sometimes call her Nora the Explorer, and that just made her even cuter! Also, I was literally singing the Dora song in my head for the remainder of the day (and while writing this blog). My kids loved that, (insert sarcastic face here.)
As a side note, I am a huge advocate for annual family photos (shocking, right?) seriously, though, they are worth it it 100%. If you are on the fence about whether or not to take the time and spend the money to do annual family photos, skim this quick read and see why I feel so strongly about it.
Telluride is always stunning, but after this trip I am conviced that it is most stunning in the fall. I mean just gold rush colors everywhere as you ride the gondolas up. It looked like a postcard. The mountains are immaculate, completely unobstructed views and some already snow capped. I’m not sure there is a more beautiful location in late September. I’m already looking forward to booking more fall photo sessions here next year.
Check out some of my favorites from Jen’s session! Also, the last ones are some of my very favorite from their Telluride Family Session (though, it’s hard to choose) I feel like those photos look like they are standing on top of the world. So beautiful!
