This Autumn Colorado Wedding is incredible. It will forever be one of my favorite weddings I was honored to photograph. The bride, Jillian, wanted a simple wedding with their closest family with an elopement feel. It was done beautifully.
I feel so lucky to have photographed in some of the most beautiful places in Colorado. However, this Autumn Mountain Wedding backdrop, just might be my favorite of all time. The scenery was just unmatched. We were near Dallas Divide on private property. Colorful groves of Aspens on each side of us, and the mountains right in the middle. The San Juan’s were really showing off for us this weekend and one of the main mountains, Storm King, felt so close you could reach out and touch it.
Jillian and Michael are also some of the sweetest, most kind people you will meet. Not only were they extremely loving and caring for each other- they were also checking in on me and my assistant to make sure we got enough dinner and cake! Michael was an outstanding groom! He was up for whatever next prompt or pose I was throwing out there. And, Jillian, geez . . . talk about a sweet and stunning bride. Just breathtaking! I feel so blessed that they chose me to capture their big day.
Funny story- every spring and Fall I do all the students photos for a local preschool. This past Spring a lady came up to me asking if I shoot Weddings! I gave her my card and Jillian messaged me shortly after! Then, a few weeks after the Wedding I got to photograph their sweet newborn niece, Alora. (Blog coming soon, spoiler alert: she’s adorable).
Michael and Jillian are go with the flow people and super laid back- there was no rushing around, no worrying, no chaos. Just, enjoying their wedding guests, taking in their day, and excited for their next chapter. If you’ve been around for any length of time, you know that I am a big fan of first looks, here’s why. I was so glad that Michael and Jillian chose to do one. It was a beautiful intimate moment and it became obvious just how much they care for one another. I love being able to capture that moment for brides and grooms. Plus, it adds so many more portraits!
As previously mentioned Michael and Jillian wanted a simple wedding. She made her bouquet herself (which was gorgeous) and did her own hair and make up. Jillian is a hair stylist, so it’s no wonder her hair came out incredible! The food was delicious too! They had it catered by Jimmers, and if you are local and haven’t been to their restaurant. Run don’t walk. So good! Jacque’s Sweet Treats provided the desserts, and let me tell you. BEST CUPCAKES EVER.
Overall, Michael and Jillian’s day was filled with love, celebration, family, and incredible scenery. I am so happy for them and have no doubt they will spend a lifetime building beautiful and adventurous memories.
