I'm a Jersey girl living in the Colorado mountains- I'm a sucker for glowly light and deep conversations over a glass of whiskey . . .

Meet Ashley

If you live around my area you will likely be familiar with all of my favorite local spots. I am a huge advocate for supporting local business! It is so important to try to shop local whenever possible. A lot of our local shops are owned by people just like you and me! Not only are these locals providing excellent products and services but the money goes back into the community. These places help our community thrive and I love the small town feel when I visit!

  1. Looney Bean: This is a local coffee shop. I love the vibe in there. Comfy couches by the fireplaces, homemade mugs, friendly staff, and they even roast their own coffee beans right there in house! (So, it always smells amazing.) They have a delicious selection of house baked goods, smoothies, and wraps as well. The asian sesame wrap, ham and cheese croissant, and peach mango smoothie are my absolute favorites (my oldest says they also have the best cinnamon buns in town). If you visit in the fall try their Cinnamon Crunch Latte, I get it with almond milk and it tastes like heaven. Such a treat. I love to edit here once a week and enjoy the ambiance, also a bonus- on Friday afternoons they’ve been playing worship music! So if thats your jam, you’ll love it even more.
  2. Stone House: IMO: The best restaurant in town. I love their food- whether I am there on a lunch meeting, on a dinner date with my guy, or meeting a friend there for a drink and some apps, they are always delicious, clean, and a must-go if you are visiting. Their Sunday brunch is fantastic and I’m always full for days after!
  3. San Juan Brews: Coffee and drinks? Yes Please! They have tons of room, lots of tables, a stage for live music, and the most creative and delicious coffee drinks! I always try something new here, and each time I swear it’s my new favorite. I love having meetings here, editing, and meeting friends for a night out. Great owners as well! They helped us out with a fundraiser I threw with some friends of mine recently, they were great to work with and so generous!
  4. Phelanies: We have this fantastic speakeasy in town! It is one of the coolest places around, period! Anywhere that I can drink an old fashioned and get a bomb charcuterie board is a 10 in my book. Add in tons of candles, lots of places to sit and chat with your friends, and an awesome vibe and I’m in. Usually, this is our first choice when wanting a night out.
  5. Rec Center: We love taking our kids to swim at our brand new Rec center. This place has it all: Water slides, olympic sized pool, kids play area, rock climbing, basketball courts, ping pong tables, a full gym, and a place to host your kids birthday party. So. Much. Fun
  6. Storm King Distillery: They distill all their own liquor; vodka, rum, agave, bourbon, and whiskey; and it’s all good. I recently had one of their Palisade Peach Margaritas and it was amazing! They host trivia nights, have live music, and have a really chill feel inside the distillery. Perfect for date nights or nights out with your crew. Their Side-Gig Whiskey is my all time fave! And, it just won America’s best Whiskey! How cool is that?
  7. Fabula: This adorable downtown store located on Main Street is a true favorite. It has every kitchen product you could want, toys for your the littles in your life, cozy decor, and even some locally sourced jams, coffee, and goodies. They are one of my first stops for assembling gift baskets. Not to mention, they are always friendly and offer military discounts!
  8. Straw Hat Farm & Market: Kitchen items galore! My hubby bought me a pasta maker from here, and I am in love! My kids love helping to turn the crank for some homemade spaghetti. Straw Hat is also our go to for locally sourced farm fresh items. Particularly, the eggs, cheese, flour, hand picked veggies, and homemade goods are our faves!
  9. Camelot Gardens: We get tons of our trees, bushes, and garden supplies here. Not to mention everything is well taken care of and they always answer my million questions about plants and veggie starts. I love their flower selection too. My little girls love coming with me to see all the adorable fairy figurines they have.
  10. Sunrise Burritos: If you are looking for a spot to grab a quick and delicious beverage- here it is! This is more of a drive through situation but deserves a place on my favorite local spots lists. I love to swing by here- when I’m running morning errands and treat myself to a sausage and egg burrito. And, now I have a craving for one!
  11. Bluecorn Care & Mercantile: This is a newer place in our little town, and it has quickly become a favorite. They are actually a handcrafted beeswax candle company. Their store is part candle making and part cafe/mercantile. It’s an awesome place. I’ve been there for meetings and had the best blueberry muffin i’ve ever eaten and grabbed some fresh local flowers before I left! Recently, my husband and I celebrated our 15th anniversary and went to one of their Jazz by Candlelight events, it was a blast. They have a stage for live music, and always have different performers. Highly recommend.
  12. Lavish Beauty Bar: Formerly known as DaLee Salon. Until we moved to Montrose, I didn’t have a hair stylist that I would aways go to (likely because we moved too much, hah!) But now, no one is allowed to touch my hair except Ashley at Lavish Beauty Bar. They have hair, manicures, waxing, products, etc . . . definitely try here if you are searching for a new salon.

Honestly, I had a hard time choosing only a dozen of my favorite local spots in town! We have so much variety and so many unique and great places to go, and our town is only growing. I love where we live!

If you are local- share below some of your favorite spots in town! Or, if you are visiting, pick a few and stop by- you won’t be disappointed! But, honestly where ever you are make sure to shop local and support your community!
